Review: This is a good set to start with for this new Lego Duplo Thomas series. It contains the Thomas Load and Carry Set (in the same box that you would buy it in separately), a box each of straight track and curved track (which you can buy separately at Lego's website or elsewhere), a box of two points (switch-track), a bridge, and a tunnel. The points and bridge are apparently not available in this country as separate items (according to the Lego website)(and I didn't even find the tunnel on that website either), so this is the only way you're going to get them. The Thomas Load and Carry Set on its own doesn't really have enough track, and it's all curved track anyway, so you'll probably want to supplement. This is why I decided to spring for this big set right away.
The track is easy to put together, as are the trains. All the "buildings" (the coal loader, train station, signal tower) incorporate regular Duplo bricks (and can be put together different ways), so if you have Duplo items already, you can work them into your layout.
Of course, this is no substitute for a wooden Thomas train set - nothing is, really. This is very fun as an additional train layout for the kid who not only loves Thomas, but also loves Lego Duplo. This is the best Duplo set we have. I'm glad they're getting more inventive!
