Summary: High Voltage Rock n Roll

Review: I bought the high voltage speedway about 6 years ago. Everything still works today. A friend of mine also bought one, so we race each other and share our track. Don't buy cars alone, buy the shortest track so you get track more straight! That's after you've bought the high voltage speedway. You get more power packs, MORE CARS, it's always good to have a backup anyway. We clean our track before we race everytime. Clean our cars after each nite of racing. Use a coin for the metal on the track. It's a total blast. Your eyes start buggin out of your head your having so much fun. Age don't matter. Also, forget the layout...make your own layout, and after years of racing, forget about the second level. Keep it flat. We make a new track everytime so it's a learning experience everytime. The best thing to enhance your racing is buy TIRES from your local Ho hobby shop. They have $8 tires, buy the ones that are about 1.25 a pair, the "stock" tires in the set are horrible. These sticky tires are softer, and you think you stick to the track now...buy some tires, and you will email me to thank me. Controller hint: buy or if you have some wire the same thickness or gauge...make the controllers longer. Get another power pack/with triggers. Run two you'll run faster...and when lifting in turns, doesn't give opponent that boost of energy. email me if you need any more tips.

Summary: fun... after hours of modification

Review: My wife bought this track for me for X-mas. The reason why doesn't matter. What does matter is in order to get this track working properly is perfect manipulation. I removed the loop and made it into the "mountain" against the wall (not too high though) and tried as best I could to keep all track straight with the grooves in the hardwood floor. Elevation is better but this is a big track. Needless to say, the cars don't work too well. Why? Because they have lights. They seem to have a dated body style as well. I went to the hobby store before doing research and got two fast trackers in a twin pack. They worked great on my new high speed track. New Years Eve was a hoot! But one of the cars died already :-( I've tried to find H.O. scale cars that work better but they're pricy. I found a "power tracker" Life-like car for 20 bucks and it's fast. Nascar though. Search online for more stuff at scaleauto.com. I think the AFX Super G2+ and AFX SRT are probably the way to go. Follow the cleaning instructions of the track. It's a pain but it helps. The elevated sections still cause problems... stopping at different levels or flying off the track... ugh! I still have yet to perfect the track or perhaps the track is perfect now and I need to get better at using it. Furthermore, the controllers wires are too, they're connected directly to the track and when both cars race the electrical current seems to short causing one car to fly off the track while the other stops. If I get serious enough to where I want to spend more money I'll buy the necessary connecting parts to adapt to a more efficient starting track with plug in controllers. Also, the ohms a controller uses is important for the type of track simulated. The faster your track, the less ohms you use in the controller. Finally, the power supply only works for up to a distance of 20 feet so if you want to make a super long track keep that in mind. But modify it if you want it to work!!!! And remove the squiggle track... if you don't want to have osteoporosis early...hahaha...

Summary: Quality Problems

Review: The product would be great if Life-Like could get past their quality problems. My set went together quickly but only ran for about 10 minutes. The power pack secondary transformer coil shorted internally resulting in no power output. I can't use the set until I get a replacement power pack. I hope Life-Likes customer service is good.

Review: I am not very high speed when it comes to this "boy stuff". I can't tell you about the preformance & the race track set up (my husband took care of that)... but I can tell you that I felt like a kid again. I had WAY too much fun. One thing I noticed that was different about this track in comparison to my school year track is that the cars/track are magnetized... thought this was very cool. We haven't had any serious problem with the track and it runs good. BTW: This was given to my 5 year old daughter as a Christmas gift and she enjoys it just as much as my husband and I do!

Review: My son received this for Christmas, and patiently waited until today (Dec. 26th) when we got home to open the set and put it together.Looks great, but it's useless because this set has NO CARS!
Talk about disappointment!
