Review: The doll I received looks nothing like the pictures displayed in the catalog or most websites. As I only collect the asian barbie's I thought she would be a great addition to my collection, but she turn out to be a disapointment. Her hair is not braided properly in a round shape as shown on the back of the box picture and I don't understand that piece of pink plastic log in her hair. I took her out the box to display her and noticed that her shoes do not fit her feet. The details on her clothing are stickers. Her hands are stuck in a 90 degress position, there is no way to straighten her arms. This is definitely one of the poorer quality of barbie collector's dolls I have seen. I would recommend only buying this doll if it was on sale.

Summary: Opinion on Princess of the Pacific Islands

Review: Obviously the title is the first thing wrong with this doll "Princess of the Pacific Islands" Their are many ethnicities, cultures and people of the Pacific Islands and generalising a Hawaiian as a Princess of the Pacific Islands is totally wrong! They should have just stuck to Princess of Hawaii! Second thing is her outfit, what on earth period of Pacific History is she from? She is definitely not wearing a Hawaiian traditional costume or a Pacific Island authentic costume in the first place. Thirdly is the makeup, she has heaps of makeup on her eyes, as far as I know many cultures in the Pacific Islands do not wear such heavy eye make up! If I was to rate her authenticity to a true pacific island woman I would give her a big zero! However this doll is an improvement on the DOTW Hawaii from 96=97, the skin tone is a nice brown colour and the facial feature is more of a true island girl, though overall I found this doll dissappointing in representing where I come from the beautiful South Pacific.
